In 1885, Cooper, an infamous bandit known as the Llano Kid, rides into a small town policed by Marcus, a sheriff obssessed with the Bible. The brash bandit soon enters into a game of poker at the local saloon and finds himself faced with a cheating opponent. Cooper is forced to kill the gambler in self-defense and beat it out of town on the next train to Galveston. On board he meets Apfel, a rather shady character who has been hired by wealthy Mexican aristocrat Dunn to find her long-lost son who disappeared when he was 10 years old.
