A standard but well-crafted Holmes entry which places him on an express train speeding through the countryside from London to Edinburgh. On board is the owner of the cursed Star of Rhodesia diamond, the kind of gem that kills whoever possesses it. Of course, the owner is killed as are a couple of others. Holmes (Rathbone) gets to the bottom of the case once he discovers that the coffin being transported in the baggage car has a false bottom, creating a secret chamber where the killer had been hiding.
