Daniel Norson (Dewey Martin) is a young and very religious prizefighter from the South who is given his chance by manager Willy Wurble (Keenan Wynn). The future looks good for Daniel, until he discovers that Willy is fixing an upcoming match. He voices his disapproval and along with it his religious and moral principles, which finally get through to Willy, causing him to rethink his malicious ways. Willy promotes a fair fight between Daniel and another boxer, played by a fellow named Charles Buchinsky--who would later change his name to Bronson--for the film's finale, which implies that Daniel will find his future in God's corner rather than Willy's. The story upon which the film is based, "The Lord in His Corner," had as its main character a black fighter. leave a comment
