Set in the lower-income housing projects of suburban Paris, this film follows two teenage boys--one Arab (Boukhanef), one French (Martin)--who are the best of friends. Both boys are unemployed: Martin by choice, Boukhanef because he cannot deal with employers' racist attitudes toward him. They spend their time hanging out, chasing whores, and performing minor burglaries and other petty crimes. Boukhanef is in love with Martin's sister, but the young woman avoids him after landing a job in Paris. Martin cares little for love relationships and plans to be a gigolo on the Riviera.
