Conklin is a hard-working cab driver trying to support a wife and 10 children with a worn-out old vehicle. He's trying to raise $100 for a down payment on a new cab so he can ease his woes. One day he picks up Miley and Byer, a pair of crooks who plan to use him as a getaway driver after they blow up a safe. Trevor, a cop, surprises the two, who use Conklin's cab to escape. Trevor chases them in another cab but the crooks escape on foot. However, they've left behind a pearl necklace, hidden in the taxi's upholstery.
