Venus sends down an army of robots and they wipe out Chicago, leaving only a few survivors. Denning and Crowley wake up one morning in different parts of the city and find almost no one is left. They gather the survivors and plot to save Earth. Finally, scientist Bissell finds the robots' weakness: their faceplates can be cracked with supersonic airwaves. Bissell's discovery costs him his life and the lives of the other survivors, except Denning and Crowley. They not only have to get away from the robots that gun down people with death rays, but a crazy Roark who also wants to kill them. The robots are just plain disappointing. The science-fiction gangster idea would appear in THE ASTOUNDING SHE-MONSTER and THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED. The 23-year-old Cohen made his producing debut here, and director Rose would go on to make only two other movies. leave a comment
