This was the first of a series of short films put out by Hal Roach to play on double features. Tracy is a wacky genius inducted into the Army, and his superb memory gets him into one slapstick situation after another. He quickly achieves a sergeant's rank but has trouble leading his own
group of recruits. He is saved when he steps in to help the colonel, who gets the shakes when making a broadcast. Plenty of canned humor, old stuff that has carried through the decades. Strangest thing is that Tracy doesn't go near a tank, nor is one mentioned in the entire film. The film earned
an Oscar nomination for Best Score.
