The Tamarind Seed

Blake Edwards directs wife Julie Andrews in this spy story about a British civil servant who is swept off her feet by Sharif, a dashing Russian. While they are falling in love under the Caribbean skies, Sharif tries to persuade Andrews to become a secret agent for the Soviet Union. She resists, however, so he decides to stay with her, which is easier said than done as they have to battle a British agent who is really a Russian agent. When Edwards is hot, he is really hot; unfortunately, with THE TAMARIND SEED he is only lukewarm, despite strong performances from Andrews and Sharif.
