Four short romantic stories that focus on the trials and tribulations of young people who pursue their dreams in the City of Love. In "The Tale of Ella," Saval is late for a nightclub rehearsal and hails a taxi. After bullying her way into the car, she meets a meek man who is almost afraid of her, but not quite. He is actually a famous producer Saval would kill to meet. Not only does he win her hand in marriage, but he also gives her a new part in an upcoming film. "The Tale of Antonia" is one of a housewife's revenge. Robin is living the good life of a doctor's wife when she hears through the grapevine that a past boy friend (Marquand) is bad-mouthing her lovemaking. To get even, she seduces him, then calmly announces that he's a bore and she's happier with her husband. Arnoul has been listening long enough about how her friend has complete control over her lover in "The Tale of Francoise," so she sets out to see if the claims are true. It seems that Brion thinks--no, actually knows--that her lover will always be true to her. Arnoul checks him out for herself and, to her delight, finds that her friend is sadly mistaken. Deneuve is tired of playing the goody-goody in "The Tale of Sophie." To show her classmates how much she knows of the world, she conjures up a make-believe lover. To prove it, she has her friends gather where her supposed boy friend lives (actually her best friend's place) and goes through the window to meet him. There Deneuve meets a young singer and actually falls in love. She wants to tell the truth, but her friends prefer the old story. leave a comment
