Alex, the vampire hero, endures a mournful, solitary existence in contemporary London, spending his days in the library studying ancient books. Still lamenting the loss of Virginia, the woman he loved a century earlier, Alex is thunderstruck when a young woman who is a dead ringer for his beloved appears one day in the library. Believing her to be the reincarnation of the lost Virginia, Alex pursues the woman hungrily, unaware that she is the agent of a mysterious man who wants to end Alex's unholy sojourn on earth.
