Russell is an advertising executive who becomes concerned about the way the wives of some of her clients are becoming jealous of her. She hires MacMurray, a struggling artist looking for a way to keep food on his table while working on his canvases. His job is to be Russell's assistant and to pretend to be her fiance. Enter Moore as one of Russell's clients who wants MacMurray to handle her account personally--and then some. Russell's strictly business attitude melts in the face of this unexpected competition, and she finds herself thoroughly jealous about her hired beau.
