Syncopation

RKO's first talkie musical was not a very impressive debut, employing an already tired formula for the Hollywood musical, a genre which had been in existence only since the advent of sound. This yarn has Bennett and Watson as a vaudeville team whose togetherness continues off the stage. When Hunter, a hotshot millionaire, steps into the scene, Bennett starts to find things about her mate that drive her to drop him for a bit. A reunion is not long in coming, however, with the two heading for the altar after their ordeal. Some of the musical numbers are fairly entertaining, especially those featuring Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians, but the acting is less than exc...
