Sappy story features Novello playing a blind musician who hopes to win a competition with a piece he submitted. When prize time comes, his devoted wife, Logan, does not have the heart to tell him he lost. Neighbor Ritchard, partially to appease Logan, gives Novello a hefty check so he
will think he won the competition. But the musician soon learns he did not win and immediately accuses his wife of infidelity. He leaves and only returns when his compositions start to become well received. Performances are adequate. The biggest drawback is that the British stuck close to the
stage version, so the pacing is ponderous. Benita Hume played the wife in the British version...
