Cardwell plays a young trombone player who gets a chance to play with the Benny Goodman Orchestra, but the success immediately goes to his head. Pushed by Darnell, he tries to start up his band, but with disastrous results. He goes back to his old factory job, only to get another chance with good ole' Benny.
