Lillian Garber (Maureen Stapleton) is the owner of the Lorraine, an 80-year-old Catskills hotel that is just hanging on. The place needs major renovation, and she hasn't the heart or the cash to continue. There is an offer to buy the place, but Lillian has other people's opinions to consider.
