This big-screen adaptation of a popular British television program is simply a routine cops-and-robbers flick with pretentions at political intrigue. Thaw and Waterman are a pair of London dicks who are investigating a series of murders. The case leads them to some oil dealings that carry
political implications. Violent, with occasional glimpses of wit, the story is routine and told without much flair. Some good London scenery is used without much effect.
