Despite obtaining inside information from his cop pal, Louis Delvecchio (Vittorio Rossi), private eye Jack Ramsey (Patrick Bergin) still gets played for a sap by his wealthy clients: ruthless Richard Whitmore (Daniel Pilon), his venal daughter Katherine (Liliana Komorowska), and his adulterous wife Isabelle (Jayne Heitmeyer), whom Jack has been hired to tail. Quicker than you can say "Body Heat," Isabelle's bedmate, Kevin Green (Bruce Dinsmore), who's also Mr. Whitmore's attorney, gets shot to death. Instead of grilling the usual suspects, Jack gets duped into questioning environmental activist Vic Mulvey (Gary Busey), who keeps sabotaging Whitmore's timber-cutting empire. As the body count escalates, the greedy principals converge at a rendezvous with an out-of-his-depth Jack. Here's another uphill hike through James Cain county. Long before Mr.Whitmore expires in an "accidental" car crash, armchair sleuths will ponder such questions as: Why does Busey chew all that scenery he's trying to protect? And why does Jack leap into bed with a castrating blond? With its dirty mind planted in the characters' underwear, it short-changes mystery fans by cutting to the soft core of the matter, too often. The script is riddled, not with bullets, but with inconsistencies, and mystery lovers will have lost interest in who lives or dies or inherits by the bloody climax. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
