Andes is an Army lieutenant given the awesome assignment of organizing Filipino headhunters into a guerrilla force to fight the Japanese during WW II. Based on a diary kept by the man who actually carried out the mission, Col. Donald D. Blackburn, the script is hopelessly cliche-ridden and
does little justice to the real man and his ordeal. However, there is romance coupled with interesting native dances and fascinating views of the Philippines, where the film was made. Cast wins plaudits all around, including some highly talented Filipinos.
