Brynner is a big-time mob boss who's deported from the US to Greece. A king (Coward, who performs his part merely as an extension of his well-known personality) lives on a Greek island, exiled from his homeland. He's got the valuable crown jewels. and Brynner is willing to pay $1 million
for them. Brynner wires "da boys" to send him the money, but they send him Gaynor instead, "A gift from da boys." This would-be comedy is directed with a fast pace, but it only spins its wheels. Donen and his cast were all capable of much better than this disappointment.
