In a small town in the deep South, the local citizens, led by Ewell, a right-wing militia man, accept Ameche's invitation to visit the Army base. A dance is arranged to foster good community-military relations, but it erupts into a free-for-all between the two sides when Curtis is arrested after he's caught necking with Pleshette.
