The Halperin brothers, who made WHITE ZOMBIE, took a crack at the spooky again with this film, and the result was ho-hokum. Lombard is a rich heiress who has lost her brother. She's contacted by phony spiritualist Dinehart who says that he can put the bereaved sister in touch with the
dead man's ghost. Dinehart plans a seance and has a mask made of the late sibling, which he uses to show Lombard that the man was murdered by Farnum, who is Lombard's guardian and totally innocent of any wrongdoing. What Dinehart wants to do is get the decent Farnum out of the way, thus clearing a
path for him to move in and grab Lombard's money. Lombard falls for the ruse and tearful...
