What the Lift is Going on Here?

Episode Recap: "Week Four"Did the foot touch the floor? Who cares! I love the lift. Carrie Ann was digging her grave with the audience by calling out Jane Seymour, Jennie Garth and company. I consider a lift to be something over the shoulder... like Dirty Dancing! Let the people lift, I say. Here is my main problem with the show: of the two dances each performance night, one is always more exciting than the other. How can you expect me to be wowed by a waltz when the Paso Doble is setting the floor on fire? Is it just me? What do my loyal readers think? I think it would probably get boring if everyone did the same dance, though, so I really have no solution to my problem.Tonight's BestOur first perfect score went to Sabrina Bryan. I must say it was well-deserved. She set the bar very high for the night and though some came close, Sabrina has shown she is the front-runner in this competition. At this point, I have no idea if anyone can beat her!Where did Cameron Mathison come from? Th... read more

After reading your column ...

Question: After reading your column last week, I am wondering why people are so passionate in their dislike for Bionic Woman. I've watched the first two episodes. Do I love the show? Not really, but my expectations are not for it to become a new Lost or Heroes. I'm in it for the brainless entertainment. And though its storytelling is disjointed and it has plenty of eye-rolling moments, the entertainment factor is there. I'd actually like to see a bit more of some Superman-like moments: a seemingly ordinary woman with incredible strength who can prevent everyday tragedies in between "saving the world"-type stuff. I don't think they've developed her action moments to the fullest. She needs some Buffy-level confidence but with Terminator seriousness. But it seems people want to hate the show and condemn NBC for seeing it through. What could it hurt? There's enough fodder for everyone else to watch in the meantime. Answer: While it may be too early to give up on the show just yet — given ... read more

Casting Scoop: Sally Field's Superfriend, and More!

• Margot Kidder (Superman) will guest-star on the Feb. 11, "Valentine's Day Massacre" episode of ABC's Brothers & Sisters, playing a wayward (gee, really?) friend of Sally Field's Nora.• Grammy nominee Nelly Furtado will guest-star on the Feb. 7 CSI: NY, playing a world-class shoplifter and an ingenious master of disguise. • Another Grammy nominee, Mary J. Blige, will guest on Ghost Whisperer on Feb. 9. Blige, whose music is featured in the episode, plays the coach of a high-school cheerleading team whose members are being disabled by "freak accidents." Save the cheerleaders, save Melinda's Wonderbra!• Reported below earlier, although that Ryan Seacrest/"Nudity" title may have scared you off: American Idol alumna Katharine McPhee will appear on the Feb. 1 episode of Ugly Betty, as a celebrity guest at the "Mode" Fashion Week runway show. read more

Smallville: The Scoop on Jimmy Olsen!

Chloe, according to lore, may never land the Man of Steel, but she just might woo his best friend. Aaron Ashmore (née the ex of Mars' Veronica, Troy Vandegraff) is joining CW's Smallville this season (premiering Sept. 28) as a semiregular, playing aspiring photojournalist Jimmy Olsen.

But wait, there's more. Read all about it: "He's going to be a love interest for Chloe," Ashmore confirms for TVGuide.com. "They met [off screen] a few summers ago, and now they're reconnecting."

Ashmore's boy-next-door looks make him a natural to play All-American Jimmy — even though he eerily resembles Smallville villain Eric Summers, who just happened to be played by Ashmore's real-lif read more

90210 Alumna Gives Us the Business

So what's it really like trying to produce an indie film on a shoestring budget, with underqualified/overinflated ego-wielding actors, frustrated writer-directors and a crazy, Japanese-spouting investor? The Business, premiering Friday, Aug. 4, at 11:30 pm/ET, picked up where IFC's The Festival left off, as writer-director Rufus Marquez (Nicholas Wright) struggles to get his low-budget thriller made by wannabe-legit smut-peddler Vic Morgenstein (Rob DeLeeuw). Hopefully saving everyone's bacon in this mess is Kathleen Robertson's Julia Sullivan, who quits her job at (wink-wink) IFC to give Vic a desperately needed assist. TVGuide.com got a hold of the 90210 alum and indie vet to mind her Business and get the scoop on her upcoming "dat read more
