A simple, warm-hearted story of a teacher (Secombe) who migrates to Australia after a failed romance. He gets a position teaching in a small outback village with students who range from ages 7 to 15. After he gets homesick for his old school choir, a local official suggests that Secombe
start one with his new students. The official (Meillon) also plays Cupid when he fixes Secombe up with Fitzgibbon, an earthy, hard-working woman. Secombe projects a naive earnestness in his role and is given good support from the cast.
