Filmed in Greece for a pittance (under $200,000), this colorful art-house comedy broke through to the mainstream market and made a ton of money. NEVER ON SUNDAY is the brainchild of Jules Dassin, an American writer-director who ran afoul of Red-baiters in the 1950s and had to go to Europe to earn a living.
