Sunday In The Country

1975, Movie, R, 90 mins

starstarstarstar
Not the type of Sunday outing one would expect, as Borgnine plays a peaceful farmer whose quest for revenge against a band of murderers leads to some most cruel torture scenes. Somehow the film maintains that Borgnine is in the right in a very distorted manner. This one should set gun-toting vigilantes' hearts pounding. Advertising for the picture compared it with STRAW DOGS (1971), but it bears a closer resemblance to Ingmar Bergman's THE VIRGIN SPRING (1959). Funds for filming were provided in part by the Canadian Film Development Corporation. leave a comment
