Academy Award-winning director Michael Cimino's first film in six years -- his last was the half-baked remake of DESPERATE HOURS -- is a ludicrous road picture larded with enough New Age claptrap to try the faith of even the most harmonically converged. Woody Harrelson stars as Dr. Michael Reynolds, an ambitious young L.A. oncologist with a successful practice, a glamorous and shallow shrew of a wife (remember, it's a Cimino film), and a dismissive skepticism about everything not directly explicable by DNA.
