Summer Magic: Review

Almost, but not quite, too cute, this light, unpretentious Disney fare provides 109 minutes of escapist entertainment. Margaret Carey (Dorothy McGuire) is a recent widow forced to move from her expensive Boston home to a small town in Maine with her teenage daughter (Hayley Mills) and her young sons. Their new place is old and broken down, but through hard work, they transform it into very pleasant country home. Willing to go out of his way to lend a hand is the local postmaster (Burl Ives), who must be the sweetest man ever to grace the giant screen.
