The Sucker: Review

This Italian comedy stars Bourvil outwitting gangsters who have tried to use him. On his way out of Paris for a holiday, he gets into a car accident with de Funes, a member of a gang of smugglers. In a clever ruse, de Funes apologizes to Bourvil by offering to let him drive de Funes's Cadillac to Bordeaux and enjoy his vacation. Bourvil does not know the car is loaded with contraband, including jewels in the battery fluid and heroin in the tailfins. He is followed by de Funes and another gang but is totally oblivious to them as they shoot at each other. Picking up a couple of female hitchhikers, he just keeps driving along. Finally, he realizes he is being used and leads the gangs to the police. His vacation gets an even bigger boost when he finds the world's largest diamond in the steering wheel. leave a comment
