The spiritualist con games are examined here as newspaper reporter McCarthy is after Auer and his gang of phonies. Barrington is a wealthy man's daughter. She has fallen under Auer's power and is involved in an oil scam. As events turn against him, the mystic and his gang get rough. A big chase scene after a murder provides the suspense at the end.
