A former gangster redeems himself by helping to defeat the Nazis on a remote island. Litel plays a criminal hiding out on the island who at first seems to aid the Nazis by giving them a place to refuel their submarines. When a ship is sunk, Baxter washes up on shore. A former New York City policeman, now in the merchant marines, he recognizes Litel as a gangster on the run, and tension soon builds between the two.
