March effectively plays a pair of twin brothers (one nice, one nasty) in this romantic comedy. Nasty March has forged his father's will, leaving out his brother and forcing him to live a deprived life. When nice March arrives to seek help from his brother, they argue and the excitement brings on a heart attack that kills nasty March. Nice March takes on his brother's identity, his problems, and at the upbeat ending, his voluptuous secretary-girl friend, Francis. March had already turned in an Oscar-winning performance in something of a dual role in DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, and Paramount hoped for similar results with this film. Though he was able to create two distinct personalities, this picture was not much of a vehicle for his talent. Even the process photography--which allowed two Marches to appear on the screen simultaneously--was not very well done. leave a comment
