The directorial debut of Michael Laughlin, who had previously produced Monte Hellman's excellent TWO LANE BLACKTOP, is an intelligent little film starring Michael Murphy as the chief of police in a Midwestern town (though the film was shot in New Zealand) who is trying to solve a series of teenage stabbings.
