When bookkeeper Sam Wilson (Lynn) requests a raise, he is not only turned down but learns from his boss, Malcolm Jarvis (Gaines), that the firm is about to declare bankruptcy. Further, Jarvis announces his intention to kill himself and tells Wilson that he can earn $10,000 if he helps make his (Jarvis') suicide look like a murder so that Jarvis' family can collect on an insurance policy.
