Shaky direction and a cliche-ridden script mar any possibilities for this human interest story about a neglected boy, charmingly portrayed by 10-year-old Petersen, who is a victim of his father's drunkenness and neglect. Attenborough and Alison are neighbors who take an interest in the
boy, and try to give him something to believe in despite his wretched home life. In a moment of self-defense, the fiery Petersen knocks his father over the head. Thinking his dad has been killed, Petersen runs to the protection of Attenborough. But the boy is proven innocent of his father's death
and is given the chance to stay with Attenborough for good.
