Howard plays the skipper of an old freighter on its last legs. When Martinelli is smuggled on board by the bullying engineer, Armendariz, Howard and Martinelli quickly develop a romance, in spite of the remonstrations of Armendariz who wants the girl for himself. Howard becomes so enthralled with the girl he forgets his duties as the ship's captain, causing a fire that both destroys the freighter and separates the lovers forever. Performances are sincere and poignant, molded by a keen hand in direction. leave a comment
