Story Of Women

In a German-occupied French village in 1941, Marie (Isabelle Huppert) struggles to eke out an existence for herself and two children, then begins supporting her family in style by performing amateur abortions. Her husband, Paul (Fracois Cluzet), whom Marie grows to despise, returns from the war a broken man, but when her affair with a young collaborator (Nils Tavernier) becomes increasingly overt, Paul turns informer, and Marie finds herself standing trial in Paris for her "crime against the state."
