An East German refugee sneaks aboard an American train bound for Frankfurt in hopes of reaching safety. The Germans discover that he is on the train and demand that he be handed over, an order that commanding officer Flynn has no intention of following. The issue is in danger of changing
into an international incident; and eventually, at the urging of both the American and the Russian authorities, Flynn gives the prisoner up. An interesting character study that falters primarily because of its painfully slow pace.
