A tortuous but interesting plot has Lewis as a race car driver injured on his wedding day in an accident that leaves him mentally unstable. His honeymoon with Cilento is postponed while he undergoes treatment with psychiatrist Dauphin. Lewis finds himself trying to strangle his wife
every time they make love but soon realizes that his feelings of anger aren't so misguided when he sees Dauphin and Cilento together. He confronts the psychiatrist, who nearly convinces his patient that he is suffering from hallucinations. Lewis chases Dauphin, who falls to his death while trying
to escape in a cable car. Cilento and Lewis are then left to carry on with their honeymoon....
