Steamboat 'Round The Bend

One of three pictures John Ford made with Rogers (after DR. BULL (1933) and JUDGE PRIEST (1934)), this audience-pleaser starred the famed humorist in his final film role (though IN OLD KENTUCKY had yet to be released). Rogers plays a steamboat captain intent on proving the innocence of McGuire, soon to be hanged for murder. With McGuire's sweetheart Shirley, Rogers sets out in search for the only witness who can save McGuire. It turns into a race against time as Rogers and Shirley burn everything on board, including a wax figure collection, to make it down the river before the hanging.
