The tensions of a group of isolated oil workers are released when they rescue Baker and McGuire from an auto accident. Instead of satisfying the men's desires, however, Baker only inflames the already-explosive situation by sleeping first with Van Eyck and then with Felmy. McGuire, Baker's jealous ex-husband, watching from his sick bed, eventually stabs Baker to death and then takes his own life. With the "visitors" gone, the oil workers return to business as usual. BABY DOLL-star Baker, who raised sexual consciousness in the 1956 film, here did the same by appearing in a nude sequence--which, much to the chagrin of American audiences, was cut from the US-release print. leave a comment
