Take The Stand

This story about newspaper columnists, based loosely on Earl Derr Biggers' novel, The Deuce of Hearts, is a simple, if not boring, story about a group of people all having good reason to rub out an abrasive columnist. All gather in his office and, just as he is starting his radio broadcast, the words "Don't shoot" are heard over the air. Detective Hopton gets on the case and finds LaRue has been done in by an icicle. Not much of a buildup results in little emotion for the climax.
