A low-rent knock-off of THE BODYGUARD (1992) in which suspense takes a back seat to simulated sex. Someone starts penning nasty notes to film goddess Maxine Strickland (Tracey Voyek), and she doesn't know whom to trust. Her chauffeur, Armando (Robbert Nassry), and maid, Tina (Stacey Noel), are too preoccupied with each other to focus on Maxine's safety and though her manager, Riley (Kyle Kleefield), convinces Maxine to add bodyguard Jack Howard (Paul Logan) to her staff, Riley has an hidden agenda. Riley is sleeping with both Maxine and her personal assistant, Naomi Grant (Tera Patrick), with an eye to grooming Naomi for stardom — Maxine has become too difficult for Riley to handle. Temperamental Maxine resents Jack's interference in her daily routine, especially after he mistakenly mistakenly tackles her producer. But Maxine inevitably starts pining for her muscular protector. Already burned by Riley's infidelity, the insecure Maxine isn't too keen to discover Naomi has seduced Jack as well. The only good news for Maxine involves a visit from her old friend, Leah (Scarlett Johansing); Leah is the one lover who doesn't cheat on her. As her entourage hops in and out of assorted beds, Maxine tries to figure out the identity of her stalker, who may be trying to control Maxine rather than kill her. Can Jack find the bad apple in Maxine's bunch? Bodacious babes rule the roost in this thriller, which busies itself finding new ways to get women undressed rather than generating suspense. Even voyeurs may tire of the contortions of the buffed but blank-faced cast. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
