Realistic rendition of the conflicts which arise when a mother (Brady) devotes herself to seeing that her daughter (O'Sullivan) makes it on the stage. Picture starts with Brady's husband falling to his death while doing a highwire act. From this point on the woman tries to fill her emptiness by focusing on her child. She interferes with a romance between O'Sullivan and Tone, but Brady gives in in the end after O'Sullivan has almost gotten rid of her mother for good by marrying into a British aristocratic family. Brady is convincing in an unflattering role and is able to display some heart behind her blinding drive. Songs include "Dancing on the Rainbow" and "Right Little Girl." leave a comment
