This modern-day western has drifter Prine being picked up by rich kid McCormick, who is running away from her stifling New York existence. The two start up an affair, which is kept intense because both have volatile, argumentative natures. When Prine meets with failure in his attempts at
the rodeo, McCormick leaves for an uncertain future, while Prine's own self-esteem grows. The film explores how the two youths come to terms with approaching adulthood and how they develop through their experiences.
