Dutch director-writer-actor-singer Van Veen is the force behind this drama, which details via flashbacks the rift in a marriage. Struck with the wanderlust, Van Veen has affairs and ruins the relationship. The split is hard enough, but missiing his young son is too much to bear, so he
writes and sings a series of songs expressing his mixed emotions. A few powerful moments do surface, but the film seems more like a self-conscious one-man show than an insightful drama. This picture supposedly was the first European production to make use of Dolby sound. (In Dutch; English
subtitles.)
