Bored British army personnel in France during WW I stage a vaudeville show with songs, comedy, and, of course, soldiers in drag. Climax sees the boys run off to battle, many still dressed as women. This is the film version of the famous concert party "Les Rouges et Noirs," organized by
comic Jones and female impersonator Stone during WW I. Stone sings "I'll Be on My Way" and "Encore," while Jones performs "Lanky Carrie Fra' Lancasheer." Stone and Jones are the only members of the original troupe to appear in the film.
