The premise of this charming film is simple: Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, girl turns out not to be a girl at all — she's a mermaid. Siren Daryl Hannah meets New York City fruit seller Tom Hanks. Hannah is human when on dry land, but the moment she is touched by saltwater, she reverts to her half-woman, half-fish form.
