The idea of handing three short stories by Edgar Allan Poe to a trio of famed European directors may have been far better in concept than in execution, but Federico Fellini's entry — an adaptation of Never Bet the Devil Your Head — is a mindblower of the highest order. In it, Terence Stamp plays an dissipated English movie star who, while tooling drunkenly around Rome in a Maserati convertible, makes the titular mistake.
