Private eye Conte is hired by carnival mind reader Marlowe to locate her sister who has been missing for several years. Conte and his partner Savage dig for clues. Savage finds the answers, but she is killed before the information can change hands. The local police arrest Conte for the
killing, but he weasels his way out of jail. When another body turns up after Conte had been seen with the victim, the cops are determined to throw him back in. Luckily Conte finds the real murderer, reveals that he had also killed Marlowe's sister years ago, and committed the recent killings in
order to hush up the original murder.
