A film director is desperate for a hit after the failure of his last movie, a big-budget special-effects epic. He meets an aspiring actress (Zoe Tamerlis) and kills her, filming the murder with a hidden camera. He then sets about making a movie around his footage: locating an actress who
looks just like the victim (also Tamerlis), asking lots of questions of the detective investigating the case, even posting bail for the victim's husband (who is accused of the crime) and having him act out the murder. A strange and interesting film that barely got a release in the US, SPECIAL
EFFECTS was made on a miniscule budget.
